A monomial is in normal form when it has one numerical coefficient and each variable appears once with its total exponent. To normalize it, separate numerical factors from variable factors.
When multiplying powers with the same base, exponents are added. This rule applies because we are multiplying factors; it must not be transferred to sums of monomials.
In this lesson: Separate coefficient and literal part and normalize a monomial.
You can already assume: What is a monomial and laws of exponents.
